Qapacity, connecting professionals and clients

Tomy Pelluz and Julian Lerer present Qapacity, a social application that connects the needs of clients with professionals who offer services. This is what I was commenting the other day while talking about the investment in Angie’s List, a site where professionals from all kinds of sectors can offer their services to those people who haven’t used personal recommendations to find these kinds of services on the internet.

Qapacity offers professionals of all kinds a website from where to offer their services (with blog, images, videos, …) and the possibility of managing the contacts of clients, collaborators and professional colleagues from one’s personal profile.

For clients, in this case non-professional users of Qapacity, they are offered the possibility of selecting the service they are looking for from professionals or small businesses. And on the other hand, users can create their own personal network, keeping track of their trusted professionals and discovering new professionals through recommendations from their personal network.

As for the company behind the project, Qapacity counts with an investment from Grupo Intercom, and its founders also have the experience of having participated in the launch and development of Neurona, until the time it was acquired.

I think that there was a real need for such a project in Spain. The professinal social networks are quite successful as far as businesses are concerned (B2B) and for professional promotion, but they lack contact with the client. From a site like Qapacity which precisely looks for that focus, businesses catering to consumers (B2C) have a place to go to.

Viadeo acquires professional community ICTnet

Sincerely, I wasn’t expecting that Viadeo would jump into buying communities or social networks in Spain and I think it’s good news to continue to stimulate the market.

Viadeo acquired ICTnet as announced by Pedro Sanchez Pernia, their country manager in Spain.

ICTnet has 300.000 users which will from now on be a part of Viadeo, which means an important thrust to the competition with Xing and LinkedIn.

How much did Viadeo pay for ICTnet? As per the valuations in the purchase of Neurona and Econozco, I would say somewhere around 3 million euros.

More information in the web of Viadeo (in Spanish).
